Martin studied at Bristol University (BSc 1983, PhD 1988) and had spells working in industry with Howard Humphreys and Partners and W.S. Atkins before joining Oxford University as a Lecturer in 1989. He was promoted to Reader in 2004 and then Professor in 2008. He has held visiting fellowships at the University of British Columbia, the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and the University of Queensland. At Oxford he teaches a wide range of structures topics and has research interests in structural dynamics, including earthquake engineering, vibrations of flexible structures, human-structure interaction and novel dynamic test methods.

Tony obtained his first degree and PhD from the University of Cambridge then joined the Civil Engineering Department at Bristol University, where he advanced to Senior Lecturer before moving to Oxford in 1994 and became a Professor in 2008. Although his main specialism is structural dynamics, he has also published extensively in the fields of materials science and solid mechanics, and has a strong interest in the teaching of mathematics to engineering students. He is a former Chairman of EEFIT (the UK Earthquake Engineering Field Investigation Team) and a current member of the IStructE/DCMS/ODPM working party on dynamics of grandstands.

Clive served a mechanical apprenticeship with the Atomic Energy Authority before going into the inspection and test department doing vacuum and ultra high pressure testing. He then spent 3 years decommissioning radioactive and hazardous plantwork for the government before spending several years in industry, finally coming to Oxford in 1997.
I am the technician for the Structural Dynamics Lab and act as support staff for the academics and students and look after the general day to day running of the lab. As we design and make most of our equipment in house, I do the majority of the machining and building of rigs and test equipment, including most of the strain gauging for the lab and group as a whole.

Mobin graduated in July 2005, awarded a Masters with Distinction in Mechanical Engineering from Strathclyde University. For his Masters thesis he carried out a robotics project at the Toyko Institute of Technology. In September 2005 he began research on dissipitative devices in seismic design.
