Combined Loading of Shallow Foundations on Sand

In parallel with the studies on clay, the equivalent problem for foundations in sand has been studied using a computer controlled apparatus capable of applying a wide range of displacement paths to a foundation on sand. The results of the tests have been used to develop a complete plasticity model for the behaviour of a foundation on sand in terms of the forces applied to it.
