Applicants to become research students in 2008 should submit their application forms as soon as possible, in particular if they need scholarships. Various deadlines can be found in the university's prospectus . Those who are interested in medical devices should put the department as engineering science, instead of any medical departments.
Jiaoyao Ma enrolled as a D. Phil student in October 2007. He is co-supervised by Drs Martin Williams and Zhong You.
Zhong You, Nick Cole and Suby Bhattacharya were invited to IIT, Bombay, India to take part in Techfest 2007. Their exhibition was entitled Motion Structures.
Dr James Eaton-Evans joined the group as a research associate at the beginning of January 2007 working on the origami stentgraft and its integration with a new type of nanocomposite. The project is funded by the EPSRC.
Jonathan Taylor joined the group as a rsearch assistant in December 2006. He works on a large span rapidly expandable shelter for emergency relief or military operations. The project is funded by the EPSRC.
Zhong You, Nick Cole and David De Focatiis were invited to exhibit their structures as the Royal Society team at the Buckingham Palace on 24 October 2006. Professor Guy Houlsby joined us in the evening when the Queen and other royal family members inspected the exhibition.
Weina Wu and Xiong Zhou joined the group as D. Phil (PhD) students in October 2006. Weina works on engineering application of origami and Xiang is developing a new medical device for treating aneurysms in blood vessel in human brain, a joint project with Dr James Byrne of Radcliff Infirmary.
